Overview
As a key member of the project team, the Construction Foreman will embody traditional values around working hard, having personal accountability, and getting the project to the finish line without fail. Role
The Construction Foreman works closely with the field crew to ensure construction tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards while maintaining schedule. This role requires a mix of leadership and hands-on carpentry expertise. The Foreman will closely with site superintendent and play an active role in the construction process. In this role, you will have the opportunity to take on the role Site Superintendent on smaller projects.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with site supervisors to ensure that tasks are completed according to project timelines, plans, and specifications.
- Assist the Site Superintendent as required and liaise with the safety officer, internal project team, and other core trade contractors as necessary.
- Work with crew and project team to quickly and efficiently resolve on-site challenges.
- Lead, supervise and work alongside field crew prioritizing lean concepts safety, quality and schedule.
- Perform skilled carpentry tasks as needed, including framing, finishing, and installation, to support the projects needs.
- Build, erect, repair, and construct forms and structures from wood, steel, concrete, and other materials.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Complete concrete formwork and understand the basics of concrete slab construction.
- Operate, maintain, and occasionally repair power tools, hand tools, and other machinery.
- Keep accurate daily logs of site activities, including progress, worker hours, material usage, and any incidents.
- Be a safety leader by following safety program and conduct safety tasks daily.
Skills Required
- Valid Red Seal Carpenter certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience, with at least 2 years in a foreman or supervisory role. Extensive experience in carpentry, including framing, finishing, and custom work.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes using measuring tools.
- Good understanding of construction processes and project delivery sequences.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use a smartphone and share information through apps or other software programs.
- Valid drivers license with a clean abstract.
- Criminal record check.
- Willingness to travel if required.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and demanding environments.
- Physically fit, able to work on your feet for 8-10 hours per day and able to lift at minimum 50 lbs
